Hi.

I am Bob.

I build and grow technology companies.

Bravo Point is my consulting company.

This is my story:

I started my career as a programmer 21 years ago at EDS, a $16B multinational company.  I have spent the past 12 years providing leadership in 6 small to mid-sized Internet tech companies.

I've seen every company lifecycle phase at least twice: ideation, business planning, funding, launch, growth, decline, exit.

Through this experience I have developed a unique brand of operations management.  It is rooted in mature management techniques.  I learned these while working at EDS and while attending the Wharton Business School. Although these techniques have provided a solid foundation time and again, they proved to be heavy and slow.  As a result I have spent the past 12 years tailoring my approach to the unique aspects of a typical Internet business which is characterized by speed, chaos, uncertainty, change, innovation, complex competitive environments and high-risk/high-reward stakes.

I live for, and thrive in, these unique environments.

My operations management approach has four major aspects: people, product, process and P&L.

  • People - Not everyone can succeed in early stage tech.  I can find, select, develop and lead those that can. My largest organization was 90 people strong.
  • Product  - I can take products from concept to launch, having done so at least 8 times so far.
  • Process  - I am a huge fan of the Lean and Agile movements but tend to implement custom processes based on the organization’s team, current state, DNA and business model.
  • P&L – I can model even the most complex businesses and have done so to uncover critical assumptions, track progress against plan, set pricing, forecast revenue and manage costs.

In the past 12 years, the companies I have founded (of which there were 2), joined (of which there were 2) or worked for post-acquisition (of which there were 2) have collectively raised over 85MM in seed and venture funding.

In perfect candor, I don't have any big wins under my belt.  I wish I did.  My previous investors wish I did.  However, what I lack in tally marks in the Win column I make up for with deep experience and a hell of a lot of lessons learned.

I am always willing to share those lessons learned.
